The Air Quality Sucks Today: reloaded

Wednesday, September 07, 2016

It's been a gloomy September so far.

Today's air quality. We stay up-to-date on mask weather via this app.
Green is good, yellow is fair, orange and red are bad. :(

As previously mentioned, the air quality in many parts of east Asia is atrocious.

Usually the air quality is at its worst in the Spring time [sad face, fav season].

When I first moved here, I was told that the yellow dust particles come primarily from Beijing, home of the worst air pollution in the world. The yellow dust would then trickle its way down to the peninsula.

I have no idea where the haze is coming from this time of year. But I do know that Korea isn't perfect, and houses many factories that burn coals and emit pollutants as well.

Today, Beijing is not to blame; their air quality is better than ours at a yet still unhealthy 107 on the day so far.

It is only a month into September, and what is usually the breaking point for the unbearable humidity among clear skies has thus far been a hot, hazy mess. We're confused and completely over it!

What I do know is that if I don't get my Fall skies and crisp air we're gonna have problems.
Well, Idk who I'm going to actually have problems with [lol] but I'm going to be extremely unhappy.

If you're new to Korea, this is slightly out of the ordinary.
March-May is when the dust and haze are at their worst. You will need to invest in a heavy duty surgical mask when you get here. They're sold at most home stores, and on GMarket.

One day I will understand humans. :(
Why do we treat the Earth as if we don't have to live here?
Why do we care more about our own self-serving interests than that of the greater good?
Why do I have to be a hot, sweaty mess in September??

So dreadful. We have to do better.
